Welcome to Showing Central, a blog run by me, Sally, all about my favourite equestrian discipline, Showing. Here I document my showing endeavours, any advice that I have (usually from learning the hard way) and updates about my pony Pixie, who I have on loan. For me, the ultimate goal is HOYS, but I’m not holding my breath!
I first began riding aged 10 or 11. I only started because my friend wanted to, and I’m so glad she persuaded me to start with her! She moved away, so I have no idea whether she still rides, but its her I have to thank because I now can’t imagine life without horses. I left the riding school aged 14, where I got a pony on part loan called Tinks. I fell off her the first time I rode her! I adored her and there is no doubt in my mind that I would not be the rider I am today without her. It is here that I was first introduced to show riding, because Tinks was kept at a show yard and stud. It’s safe to say I was bitten by the showing bug, because I was offered the ride on a 13.2 BSP/SHP, who I loved to pieces too but I sadly out grew after a year of riding him.
Fast forward to now; I’m 17, an aspiring writer and show rider with the pony of a life time, Pixie, on full loan. It is my dream to one day ride at The Horse of the Year Show, and to become a journalist for an equestrian magazine, where I can continue to spread my love of horses to others who also share my passion.
Thank you for joining me on my blogging journey!
